Security Keys (WebAuthn)
Security keys let you sign in using a hardware token, passkey, or platform authenticator (such as Touch ID or Windows Hello) instead of typing a one-time code. Once registered, you interact with the key when your browser prompts you — no code to copy.
Registering a security key
- Sign in and click the gear icon in the top navigation bar to open Account Settings.
- Under Security Keys, click Register New Key.
- Enter a name for the key. The name is pre-filled based on your browser and operating system (for example, “Chrome on Mac”) — change it to anything that helps you identify the key later.
- Click Register Key and follow your browser's prompt: insert a hardware token and tap it, or use your platform authenticator (Touch ID, Face ID, Windows Hello).
- The key appears in the list with its name and the date it was registered.
Tip: You can register more than one key. Registering a second key as a backup means you won't be locked out if one device is unavailable.
Signing in with a security key
- Enter your email address and password and click Sign In.
- When the second-factor prompt appears, use your registered key when your browser prompts you.
- You are signed in immediately — no code to type.
Removing a security key
- Click the gear icon to open Account Settings.
- Under Security Keys, find the key you want to remove and click Remove.
- Confirm the removal when prompted.
Note: Once removed, that key can no longer be used to sign in. Make sure you have another sign-in method available before removing a key.
